  • Leanne Evans, Team Leader
  • Stacy Durham, School Nurse
  • Sonia Tingley, Health Care Worker
  • Rhian Dennis, School Nurse
  • Rebecca May, School Nurse.

All are employed by Cardiff and Vale NHS Health Board and will support school to meet all your child’s health needs during school time.

In order for the nursing team to administer medication the appropriate medication must be in an unopened box/bottle with a pharmacy label, stating the child’s name, dose and expiry date.

Medication will only be given if it is deemed necessary during the school hours, eg. lunch times.

Here to help support your child

Our aim is to make your child’s time in school happy and comfortable and to do that we work with all the departments in school as members of a multi agency team.

We are here to help support your child and ensure their health needs do not prevent them from meeting their potential. Any useful information that you can give us is appreciated. We can always be contacted by phone and we welcome visits.

Naturally, any information you share with us will be treated confidentially and will only be shared with other health professionals on a “need to know” basis.

Dr Nia John, Dr Katina Kontos, Dr Kath Glenn and Dr Catrin Simpson visit the school and aim to see the pupils onsite or at Llandough Hospital at least once a year (or more frequent if any problems arise). An appointment will be made for your child to be seen and you will be informed of the date of the appointment.

Please note that it is essential that a parent/guardian attends medical examinations with their child.

Other clinics held in school include:

  • Dietician Clinic
  • Community Dentist
  • Orthoptist (Vision Tests)
  • Audiology (Hearing Tests)
  • Specialist CAMHS clinic
  • Orthopaedic clinic
  • Neuromuscular clinic

You will be contacted in writing when these clinics are held.

We may measure your child’s height and weight for the use of clinic and dietician appointments. This information will be recorded in your child’s health records.

So that we can support your child fully, we need to have the following information:

  • A completed consent form proving details of any medication your child takes long term in school time.

  • Any medication changes.
  • Knowledge of any significant issues which may affect your child’s day in school.
  • Good communication from home to nurses including medical reasons for absences.
  • Any known allergies.
  • Any change to diet or feeding regime.

If you have anything you would like to discuss further please contact us by telephone:
